Decades-trusted Vitamin E oil moisturizes eczema-prone skin, though unclear promotions and ingredient sourcing concerns arise.

Nature’s Bounty Vitamin E Oil, Supports Immune & Antioxidant, 30,000IU Vitamin E, Topical or Oral, 2.5 fl Oz
I used this product for the first time years ago for my kids' eczema back in the late 80s. It was amazing and much cheaper than the creams the Drs had suggested I use. At the time I also used The Body Shop's butters and oils so I'd add this oil to it so the kids would welcome the moisturizing massages after their baths.
Fast forward to today and this oil is still doing a great job of moisturizing my family's skin. I add it to pure castor oil for when skin is really bad, but I also make salves with a combo of oils and butters because The Body Shop got bought out by L'Oreal and I don't trust their ingredient bases anymore. I investigate where my ingredients come from when I make my stuff. And it's only for my family, and maybe a friend or 2. So this vitamin oil is the only one I add. When they were out of stock some months ago, I just didn't add any. Just waited. Now I've stocked up. Will buy more when I get my next check.
And buyer beware: the 2x1 promotion is only for the first time you order apparently. It's not stated anywhere, but you're supposed to know it anyway, as a rude customer service agent told me, then hung up.
Vitamin Basics & Tips
Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant known for its skin-nourishing properties, particularly in managing dry skin conditions like eczema. Its ability to strengthen the skin barrier and reduce inflammation makes it a popular additive in DIY skincare. When combined with oils like castor oil (which has antimicrobial properties) or natural butters, it enhances moisturization and absorption. However, sourcing matters: vitamin E derived from non-GMO, ethically processed plants ensures purity, as synthetic versions may lack efficacy. For homemade salves, pairing vitamin E with stable carrier oils extends shelf life while preventing oxidation. Always patch-test mixtures, as over-concentration can cause irritation. Store vitamin E oil in dark bottles away from heat to preserve its benefits.
Historically, vitamin E gained traction in the 1980s as a natural alternative to steroid creams for eczema, aligning with growing consumer interest in holistic skincare. Modern users should verify third-party certifications (e.g., USDA Organic) when purchasing, as corporate acquisitions (like L’Oreal’s takeover of The Body Shop) sometimes alter ingredient quality. While vitamin E rarely causes allergies, its oil consistency may clog pores for acne-prone skin—opt for lighter formulations if needed.
