Carlyle Vitamin C 1000mg | 300 Vegetarian Caplets | Ascorbic Acid with Wild Rose HIPS | High Strength Formula | Non-GMO and Gluten Free Supplement
I purchased these vitamins a year ago. They came in a 500 unit package. This year they were more expensive and came in a 300 unit package. Basically double the price. The product is fine but the price manipulation is not.
Vitamin Basics & Tips
Vitamin C, a water-soluble nutrient essential for collagen synthesis and immune support, cannot be stored in the body, requiring daily intake. Adults typically need 65-90mg daily, with a 2,000mg upper limit. While citrus fruits like oranges (53mg per 100g) and kiwis (93mg per 100g) are popular sources, red peppers (95mg per 100g) and broccoli (89mg per 100g) offer higher concentrations. Supplements often use ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate forms, with absorption enhanced when paired with bioflavonoids.
Oxidation concerns in vitamin C products relate to storage – exposure to light, heat, or air degrades potency. Some manufacturers use dark bottles or opaque packaging to mitigate this. Contrary to common belief, "natural" vs synthetic vitamin C (both L-ascorbic acid) have identical molecular structures, though plant-based supplements may include additional phytonutrients. For budget-conscious buyers, bulk purchases often reduce unit costs, but as this review shows, consumers must verify quantity adjustments during repurchases.
