Ultra Fine Cosmetic Grade Vitamin C Powder | DISSOLVES INSTANTLY IN WATER | Make fresh & effective Vitamin C serum | Vitamin C for Face, Body Skin Care
2018 Review: I order this product because it does dissolve, unlike some other vitamin C products I used in the past. The difference between my order in 2017 and 2018: it's no longer in a foil bag, it's a plastic jar, and it was $15.95 for 4 oz. and now it is $14.95 for 2 o.z - that's a significant price increase. I am glad that it is a smaller amount since I read that it should be used within 3 months: is that from opening or purchase I wonder?
I use it on my face, neck, and back of hands and recently my décolletage. I've been using vitamin C powder for 10 years. I'm not sure what my skin would look like if I hadn't used it or if I stop using it. With the combined use of sunscreen I think it may be keeping away the brown spots on my hands. It's become part of my nightly routine (3x/week).
Review in 2017: Previously I used another vitamin C powder purchased on a 'make your own cosmetics' website. This one is so much better. It really does dissolve quickly and it doesn't crystallize. The other one never fully dissolved even after trying all the 'tricks' listed on the web. I will definitely purchase this again. I wish it was available in a smaller amount because it takes a long time to use the entire package and I'm not sure how long before it's no longer effective. The other one seemed to take longer and longer to dissolve as the powder got older; hopefully this one will last better.
Vitamin Basics & Tips
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) remains a cornerstone of skincare routines due to its antioxidant properties. Unlike some serums, pure vitamin C powder offers customizable potency and avoids preservatives. The comment about 3-month effectiveness references vitamin C's oxidation process - exposure to light, air, and heat degrades its potency. Storing it in opaque, airtight containers in cool environments helps maintain stability.
Combining vitamin C with sunscreen (as mentioned) creates synergistic protection: vitamin C neutralizes free radicals while sunscreen blocks UV rays. The décolletage application addresses an often-neglected sun exposure area. Crystallization issues with older products likely stem from improper formulation - quality L-ascorbic acid powders should fully dissolve in water-based solutions when fresh.
While price increases concern consumers, proper storage (avoiding humidity) and smaller packaging (as preferred) help maintain efficacy. The 3x/week usage pattern balances benefits with potential irritation risks. For anti-aging regimens, vitamin C stimulates collagen production and inhibits melanin formation, explaining the observed reduction in age spots.
